There is no single best EV

The right car fits your budget, regular journeys, charging access, space and preferred trade-offs. EV Finder and filters narrow the catalogue; comparison helps you explain why one finalist works better for you.

Five questions before filtering

  • What is the total budget?: Include purchase, financing, insurance, charging and maintenance.
  • How far do you really drive?: Record a typical day, repeated long trips and a sensible reserve.
  • Where will you charge?: Home, work, public charging or a mixture.
  • How much space?: Seats, child seats, luggage, parking and door access.
  • What is non-negotiable?: Choose two or three true constraints rather than over-filtering.

Use WLTP as a comparison point

WLTP is a standardised procedure that measures electric energy consumption and range, among other values. It is useful for comparing variants but is not a promise for every journey.

Temperature, speed, heating or cooling, load, terrain, tyres and driving style affect real range. Add a reserve and look for evidence relevant to your conditions.

Do not buy the largest range at any price; buy enough range for your routine with a realistic charging plan.

From Finder to finalists

  • Set limits: Enter requirements you understand and record assumptions.
  • Open results: Verify the complete variant, not only the model name.
  • Apply filters: Narrow the catalogue with the current controls.
  • Save 3–5 models: Keep alternatives that pass the basic conditions.
  • Compare 2–3: Write down the main compromise of each.
  • Check offers: Use listings and dealers to investigate availability.

How to weight specifications

  • Range — You often drive long routes without reliable charging — You drive little and charge regularly
  • Fast DC — You frequently travel long distances — You mainly charge overnight on AC
  • AC charging — You charge at home or work and time matters — The charging point itself is the main limit
  • Dimensions — Parking, garage or roads are tight — Parking space is not a constraint

Before calling a model a finalist

  • Exact variant fits budget and seating needs
  • Range includes a realistic reserve
  • You have a weekday and long-trip charging plan
  • Dimensions and luggage space fit
  • Warranty and specifications were checked at the primary source
  • You looked for real listings or dealers

Turn needs into a shortlist

Use EV Finder as a starting point, then verify and compare every result.

Blog FAQ

How much range do I need?

Start with the longest repeated journey, charging access and a reserve for weather, speed, detours and ageing.

Is WLTP the range I will always get?

No. It is a standardised comparison value; real use varies.

Is EV Finder professional advice?

No. It is an indicative shortlist based on platform data and filters.

Why check listings afterward?

The catalogue describes models; listings describe specific vehicles that may be available.
